Nutrition & Weight Management Counseling
Lifestyle and nutrition are key factors in the treatment of many health conditions and diseases including hypertension, high cholesterol and even cancer. Through better nutrition and lifestyle modification, you can lower your risk of complications. The LifeHelp department at St. Anthony's Hospital offers comprehensive weight management programs that include nutrition visits, weight checks, customized exercise plans and coaching sessions. LifeHelp's registered dietitians can help you manage conditions through good nutrition choices and develop a meal plan that is appropriate for your needs.
Pre-operation Sleep Studies
Prior to weight loss surgery, patients may undergo a sleep study to find out if there are existing sleep disorders. Some sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, may be alleviated by weight loss surgery. The Sleep Disorders Center at St. Anthony's Hospital is the only sleep clinic in St. Petersburg accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Fitness Classes and Services
BayCare Health System offers three state-of-the-art wellness centers within Pinellas County, including the Carillon Wellness Center in St. Petersburg, that go beyond aerobics and weight lifting to encompass total wellness. Following weight loss surgery, patients are eligible for a discounted membership at one of our community BayCare Wellness Centers.
Behavioral Health Services
In addition to weight loss consultation, nutritional counseling, fitness classes, nutrition programs and pre-operation sleep studies for weight loss surgery patients, BayCare also offers emotional and psychological assistance, if desired by the patient or required by insurance.
