Volunteers Needed for 2011 St. Anthony’s Triathlon
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., (April 21, 2011) – Approximately 4,000 individuals and 125 relay teams will compete in the 2011 St. Anthony’s Triathlon in downtown St. Petersburg April 29 – May 1. St. Anthony’s Triathlon is recruiting a team of dedicated volunteers to assist these competitors as they swim, bike and run to the finish.
Volunteers can be part of this exciting event by assisting in positions such as athlete check-in, body marking, water stations, course marshals and finish line. Volunteers will receive a commemorative race T-shirt and access to the volunteer hospitality tent.

After volunteers enter their name, email and some additional information, they can indicate time availability and preferred assignments. Volunteer schedules, directions and parking instructions will be distributed prior to the event.

St. Anthony’s Triathlon, produced by St. Anthony’s Hospital, is now part of the World Triathlon Corporation’s (WTC) new 5150 Triathlon Series. The event will feature about 4,000 individual triathletes and 125 relay teams competing on Sunday, May 1. Additionally, a world-class professional field will compete for a prize purse of more than $65,000. The 5150 Series will be the largest international distance triathlon series in the world and will be the first non-drafting international race series of its kind.
The three-day event weekend also includes a two-day sports and fitness expo held Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. The Meek & Mighty Triathlon, a short distance race for youths 7-14 and novice adults, will be held Saturday, April 30 at North Shore Pool, 901 North Shore Drive, St. Petersburg.
