2012 St. Anthony's Triathlon Sign Up Dec. 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Nov. 30, 2011) – The St. Anthony’s Triathlon, already one of the best known international-distance triathlons in the United States, has been named one of 10 USA Triathlon Regional Championship events for 2012.

The regional events qualify the top 33 percent per age group for the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship. The 2012 Age Group National Championship will take place in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 18, 2012.

The St. Anthony’s Triathlon will open registration starting Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at 9 a.m. EST. With a newly announced swim course, the race will present athletes with a fresh challenge in its second year as part of the World Triathlon Corporation’s (WTC) 5150 Triathlon Series.

Approximately 4,000 athletes participated in the 2011 event.

The 29th annual St. Anthony’s Triathlon will be held April 29, 2012, and the three-day weekend event (April 27-29, 2012) includes a sports and fitness expo, the Meek & Mighty Triathlon and the St. Anthony’s Triathlon. The St. Anthony’s Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. It has been named “Race of the Year” by USA Triathlon and has also served as a qualifier for the Ironman World Championship. The St. Anthony’s Triathlon, which is the USA Triathlon Regional Championship, is also a qualifier for the 5150 U.S. Championship event and for the USA Triathlon National Championship.
