St. Anthony's Hospital Opens New Emergency Center in January|
Patient Care Tower to Include 64 Private, Inpatient Rooms
St. Petersburg, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2012) – With the January opening of the new four-story, 105,000-sq.-ft. Emergency Center and Patient Care Tower, St. Anthony’s Hospital will continue its 80-year tradition of providing superior health care to the St. Petersburg community.
“We are always asking ourselves what we can do next and how can we best provide superior health care to our community,” said William Ulbricht, president, St. Anthony’s Hospital. “Our new emergency center and patient care tower is our most recent answer to that question. We believe this new addition to our services will help us offer advancements in patient care, along with features to enhance patient privacy.”
St. Anthony’s new Emergency Center and Patient Care Tower will offer advanced emergency care on the first floor and brand new private, family-centered inpatient rooms on the second and third floors.
“St. Anthony’s new Emergency Center features a design unlike anything seen in the St. Petersburg community,” said Ulbricht. Patient examination rooms can be accessed on two sides. Patients and family can access patient care rooms from the lobby side, while nurses and doctors can access from the nursing station side. “This means that family members do not need to walk through the clinical care area to join their loved ones at the patient bedside.”
- 32 private patient examination rooms
- Two critical care exam rooms
- Expedited triage and admissions with the goal of treating patients more quickly and efficiently
- Design emphasis on patient privacy
- Spacious waiting room with comfortable seating and wireless connectivity
- Meditation Chapel for solace and reflection
- Advanced CT scanner, as well as imaging and lab facilities within the emergency center to help expedite diagnosis and treatment
Patient Care Tower
“Providing patients with privacy while allowing our team to continue giving excellent health care are key components of the patient care tower,” said Pat Sizemore, St. Anthony’s vice president of patient care services. “We put an emphasis on providing a hotel-like environment with a focus on family-centered care. Encouraging family support during a hospital stay can positively impact a patient’s recovery.”
Among the amenities found in St. Anthony’s new Patient Care Tower are:
- All private rooms
- A pull-out sleeper sofa for family to remain with the patient
- Two televisions in each patient room (one for a family member and one for a patient)
- Warm woods and soft tones to reflect a tranquil environment
- Individual temperature controls in each room
- Carpeted hallways to help keep noise levels low
Scheduled to open in early January, the new Emergency Center is located on the east side of the historical main building in the hospital. The entrance for St. Anthony’s new Emergency Center will be from 10th Street North. The second patient care floor is scheduled to open in February while the third patient care floor is scheduled for a March opening.
