Emergency Center and Patient Care Tower Fact Sheet






































Overview:


 



St. Anthony’s Hospital’s new $61.5 million Emergency Center and Patient Care Tower continues the legacy of care provided to the St. Petersburg community since 1931. The project includes a new four-story, approximately 105,000-sq.-ft. building.
 



Emergency Center:


 



New features to enhance the care and comfort of our patients and their families include:



  • Expedited triage and admission protocol for the goal of treating patients more quickly and efficiently

  • Centralized design to keep clinical staff as close to patients as possible

  • Separate access doors for patients and clinical staff

  • 32 private examination rooms to treat more patients

  • Two critical care rooms for specialized treatment

  • Separate walk-in and ambulance entrances

  • Spacious waiting room with comfortable seating and wireless connectivity

  • Energy-efficient design concepts such as lighting timers, motion sensors and  automatic faucets 



Patient Care Tower



The Patient Care Tower consists of two floors with 32 private patient rooms on each floor, to maximize family-centered care. Some of the amenities include:



  • All private patients rooms

  • Pull-out sleeper sofa for family to remain with the patient

  • Two televisions in each patient room

  • Warm woods and soft colors to provide a more hotel-like experience for the patient and family

  • Individual temperature controls in each room

  • Carpeted hallways to keep noise levels low 



New Technology:


 



The new facility will include the latest available technology to diagnose and treat emergency patients: 



  • New digital X-ray equipment that uses state of the art detector technology

  • A 256-slice CT scanner

  • Dedicated imaging and lab facilities to help expedite diagnosis

  • Industry-leading Electronic Medical Record System  



New at
St. Anthony’s



In addition to the new Emergency Center and Patient Care Tower, St. Anthony’s is utilizing new equipment and new procedures to continue providing advanced care to the community. The hospital also has achieved accreditation in several specialties. 



  • New robotics surgery system with fluorescence technology offers more treatment choices for kidney cancer patients

  • St. Anthony’s Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the nation to offer a new test using the drug DaTscan to provide an earlier diagnosis for patients suffering from symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease

  • The Carillon Surgery Center became the first ambulatory surgery center in Florida to be granted full accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Center Network (ACS BSCN) Accreditation Program

  • The St. Anthony’s Primary Care (SAPC) office at BayWalk has been nationally recognized as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home from the Physician Practice Connections — Patient-Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH), and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) 



Architect and Contractor:



The architect for the project is Flad & Associates, Madison, Wisc. The contractor is Brasfield & Gorrie of  Orlando, Fla.

St. Anthony’s Hospital is a 395-bed hospital founded in 1931 as a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany and is the first and only faith-based hospital in Pinellas County.
